About Komax

Thinking about “precision engineering”? I’m sure that the first thing to spring to your mind is Switzerland — be it about glossy watch factories touting a century of craftsmanship or mountain-framed optics & measurement workshops.

Switzerland’s reputation for exactness and reliability is well known and earned.

And this is as much true in the small town of Dierikon, where solutions for processing cables and wires for cars, aircraft, and factories around the world are quietly perfected —  by Komax, a company that lives off its reputation as the pioneer of automated wire processing. It is building machines that cut, strip, crimp, and test wires running through so many cars, trains, planes, and connected devices on the planet.

But Komax means more than just Switzerland. The Komax Group today employs over 3000 people across some 60 companies, with sales and service support in more than 60 countries on six continents. Its multi-brand portfolio — including Komax, Schleuniger, adaptronic, Cirris, DiIT, Hosver, and WUSTEC — extends its reach from standard wire-processing machines to fully customized systems for the automotive, aerospace, railway, and industrial sectors.

True to its “global local” philosophy, Komax combines worldwide production with local proximity, service, and support wherever its customers are.

Innovation, quality, and an uncompromising sense of responsibility form the foundation of everything it builds — complemented by a genuine partnership with the customers who rely on it, connection by connection.

Perfect Products Require Perfect Quoting — with Documill

For a company like Komax, which delivers the highest quality within the millimeter range and a customer’s trust hinges on getting the smallest detail right, that same precision has to extend to paperwork. A quotation is often the first “product” a customer receives — and a wrong figure, a missing translation, or a broken template reflects directly on the brand. When Komax’s internally built quotation tool started showing its age, the company needed a document automation solution as dependable as its machines.

The Challenge

Komax had relied on a homegrown tool to generate quotations for years, but the tool had reached end of life and had become too complex to maintain. With Salesforce CPQ at the core of their customer quoting process, Komax needed a solution robust enough to handle their quotations’ inherent complexity — with a proper fit for how their sales teams actually work.

Says Caroline Calegari, Team Lead CRM Applications, Komax:

“After evaluating alternatives, we chose Documill Generate, largely because of its ability to handle the more intricate demands that come with Salesforce CPQ integrations.

These were demands that simpler document tools typically just can’t meet.”

How Komax Uses Documill Today

Documill Automate currently powers Komax’s quotation generation, pulling data directly from Salesforce CPQ to produce accurate, on-brand quotes. A second template, for order returns, is currently under construction — giving customers a proper document when they need to return ordered items built on a custom Salesforce object designed specifically for that process.

Though the two templates serve different purposes and pull from different records, they share a similar structure, letting Komax maintain consistency across document types.

To serve its truly global customer base, Komax also required the quotation tool to support translations into English, French, German, Chinese, and Portuguese — quite a variety! This is a non-negotiable, given how many markets and languages its sales teams operate in.

Technical benefits:

  • Deep integration with Salesforce CPQ, handling complex product and pricing logic inherently
  • Multi-language document generation across five languages from a single template
  • Support for custom Salesforce objects, enabling new document types (like order returns) without reinventing the system
  • Scalable document template architecture that lets similar documents share structure while pulling from different data sources.

Business benefits:

  • Replaced a fragile, unmaintainable legacy tool with a sustainable, supported solution
  • Faster, more consistent quotation turnaround across markets and languages
  • Self-service quotation access for customers via Experience Cloud, reducing manual workload on sales teams
  • A foundation that can grow with new document needs — like order returns — without starting from scratch.

What’s Next

With the order return template underway, Komax plans to expand its use of Documill Automate to cover more of the document lifecycle tied to Salesforce CPQ.

New languages are also being alredy added to the existing templates: Czech and Hungarian.

Says Caroline:

“These were demands that simpler document tools just can’t meet. Documill’s ‘Five-Star’ customer support will no doubt play an important role here, like it already has.”

As new custom objects and use cases emerge, the shared template architecture already in place means Komax can extend its precision-built documents further — keeping the same reliability customers expect from its machines, now built into every piece of paperwork as well.

Documill’s ‘Five-Star’ customer support will no doubt play an important role here, like it already has.”
