Welcome to Documill – Ana Rosa

Documill has seen considerable growth during the past year and with new business come new faces. In this series, we will turn the spotlight on those who have chosen to join Documill to further their careers.
Today we welcome the second fresh marketing specialist of the year: Ana Rosa. Like Vlada Polishchuk, Ana joined the marketing team to help execute our marketing plans. In fact, she has already contributed by writing articles and by creating new visuals.
Ana flew in from Faro, Portugal. That’s another country to color in on our employee map. And she really did move to Finland specifically to become a Documiller.
Moving to Finland
Ever adventurous, this isn’t Ana’s first foray into Finland. After graduating from Universidade do Algarve, she found a project at Helsinki-based CubiCasa that ended earlier this year.
Even as a child, she always wanted to experience the Nordics. She had read stories about the amazing quality of life here and about how innovative the region is. Her family was skeptical, though; Ana’s father in particular wondered if she could survive the Finnish winters. A valid question when you grow up in a region where the sun always shines. I’m sure they were more used to seeing Finns fleeing Finnish winter to their country than seeing locals move abroad.
Still, her first stint in Finland happened to coincide with the winter and she even made it up all the way to the Arctic Circle to visit Santa Claus in his village near Rovaniemi. The rest is history, as they say.
Moving to Documill
When Documill offered Ana the possibility to return to Finland, she didn’t hesitate. And it wasn’t just because of the country. Her previous project at a SaaS company made her want to explore the tech industry and being part of a small team with space to learn and room to grow was ideal. In fact, she read the blog posts just like this one to gauge whether the company would be a good fit for her.
We’re glad that Documill did turn out to be what she was looking for, though Ana admits that the beginning was challenging. “Unlike people who come to Finland to study, I didn’t know too many people and had to figure out things on my own,” she explains. “Work was also not easy because Documill works in its own way in a field that is completely new to me. Luckily there is room to research and practise hands on,” Ana continues.
“It is very nice to work with everyone. I can learn a lot from the older, more experienced people, but then there are also Gen Z people around so I don’t have to feel like I’m the baby in the company,” Ana concludes.
Documill truly is a multicultural (and multigenerational) company. We pride ourselves on this fact and on that it helps us to continuously attract new talent, just like Ana. We’re very glad to have you. Tervetuloa Ana!
